How to use the blur & redact image
- Upload your image and choose an effect: blur, pixelate or black box.
- Draw a box over each area you want to hide. Use Undo if you make a mistake.
- Click Download image.
Which effect hides best?
- Black box: the safest. The hidden pixels are completely removed.
- Pixelate with a high strength: hard to reverse and widely used for faces and plates.
- Blur: looks natural, but a light blur can sometimes be partly reversed. Use a high strength for sensitive details such as text and numbers.
The effect is baked into the downloaded image, so the hidden detail cannot be recovered from it. Keep your original file if you need it.
