How GPA is calculated

Each letter grade is worth grade points on a 4.0 scale (A = 4.0, B = 3.0, C = 2.0, D = 1.0, F = 0). Multiply the points by the credit hours of each course, add them up and divide by the total credit hours.

Example: an A (4.0) in a 3-credit course and a B (3.0) in a 4-credit course give (4.0×3 + 3.0×4) ÷ 7 = 3.43.

Schools differ: some give an A+ 4.3 points or weight honors classes. Use your school's scale if it is different.
